Basia Bulat Reimagines Basia’s Palace With New Acoustic EP Bouquet

Five Songs From Basia’s Palace Find New Life in an Intimate Acoustic Setting

Canadian singer-songwriter Basia Bulat is returning to familiar songs from a new perspective with Bouquet, a five-track acoustic EP arriving August 28, 2026, through Secret City Records.

Rather than introducing an entirely new collection, Bouquet revisits material from Bulat’s 2025 album Basia’s Palace. The songs have been stripped back and reshaped, allowing the melodies, lyrics and Bulat’s distinctive voice to move closer to the foreground.

For listeners who discovered these songs through their original arrangements, the EP offers an opportunity to hear them differently.

Five Songs Find a New Setting

Bouquet features new versions of “Right Now,” “My Angel,” “Disco Polo,” “Baby” and “Laughter.”

The recordings move towards a more intimate acoustic setting built around voice, guitar and autoharp. Strings, wind instruments, double bass and classical guitar also contribute to the collection’s sound.

That approach gives the project a different character from simply reproducing the songs as they originally appeared.

The first taste of the EP is “Right Now (Bouquet Version)”, which Secret City Records has released ahead of the full collection.

A Companion to Basia’s Palace

Bulat released Basia’s Palace in February 2025. With Bouquet, she returns to selected songs from that record after spending considerable time performing and developing the material.

The new arrangements were recorded in Montreal’s Mile End with engineer Andrew Woods. Longtime collaborators also contributed to the sessions, including Ben Whiteley and Joshua Toal. Drew Jurecka’s string arrangements were reworked for the project, while Naomi McCarroll-Butler added wind instrumentation.

The result is less about replacing the original recordings and more about presenting another side of the songs.

An Intimate Addition to Bulat’s Catalogue

Bulat has built a career around a sound that draws from folk, country and R&B songwriting, often incorporating instruments such as autoharp into her work.

That makes an acoustic project such as Bouquet a natural fit.

It also continues an idea Bulat has explored before. Her 2022 album The Garden revisited songs from earlier in her catalogue with new arrangements. Bouquet once again demonstrates how an existing composition can evolve when its musical surroundings change.

Bouquet Track List

  • “Right Now (Bouquet Version)”
  • “My Angel (Bouquet Version)”
  • “Disco Polo (Bouquet Version)”
  • “Baby (Bouquet Version)”
  • “Laughter (Bouquet Version)”

New Music Followed by Canadian Tour Dates

The EP’s arrival also comes ahead of an extensive run of live performances.

Following its August release, Bulat has Canadian dates scheduled in Alberta, Yukon, British Columbia, Quebec and Ontario throughout the fall. Stops include Sherwood Park on September 16, Whitehorse on September 18, Burnaby on September 20 and Lake Country on September 23.

Ontario performances later in November include Kingston, Peterborough, Creemore, Collingwood, Paris, London and Waterford.

With only five songs, Bouquet may be compact, but its purpose is clear. Instead of moving immediately on to the next chapter, Basia Bulat is giving several songs from Basia’s Palace room to breathe again — this time in a quieter and more intimate form.
