Canada’s Rock Heavyweights Return With Their First Album in Four Years

Canadian rock heavyweights Nickelback are preparing to open another chapter with Everything Under the Sun, their 11th studio album and first full-length release in four years.

Due October 30, 2026, through Virgin Music Group, the 12-track album follows 2022’s Get Rollin’. The Alberta-born band has described the project as one that explores different sides of its sound, from arena-sized rock to more reflective songwriting.

The latest preview arrived on August 21, 2026, with the release of “Leave Me Behind.” It follows “Rattle The Cage,” featuring John 5, and “Bones For The Crows.”

“Leave Me Behind” Shows a More Reflective Side

While “Rattle The Cage” delivers the heavier side of Nickelback, “Leave Me Behind” turns towards vulnerability, loyalty and emotional support.

The song explores the complicated experience of helping someone through difficult circumstances while hoping the relationship itself survives. Chad Kroeger has described the track as carrying both considerable emotional weight and a sense of hope.

That contrast is significant because it offers an early indication of what listeners can expect from Everything Under the Sun. Rather than building an album around one particular variation of the Nickelback formula, the band appears determined to show its range.

John 5 Helps Nickelback “Rattle The Cage”

The album campaign began with “Rattle The Cage,” featuring guitarist John 5, whose credits include Mötley Crüe and Rob Zombie.

Released in July, the song leans heavily into aggressive guitars and the arena-rock energy that has powered Nickelback’s live shows for decades. Kroeger has said the album includes songs that hit hard, others that take chances and material that reminds the musicians why they have continued playing together for so long.

“Bones For The Crows” provides a third piece of the album’s emerging musical picture.

Together, the three songs suggest that Everything Under the Sun won’t be limited to a single mood.

A 12-Track Return

The forthcoming album contains 12 tracks, opening with “Rattle The Cage” and closing with “Last Night Was Fun.”

Other titles include “I Already Know,” “If I Don’t Go,” “Make Me Love You,” “Chasin’ Famous,” “Simple Song,” “Technicolor Steamboat,” “Lift Somebody Up” and “Bottled Dreams.”

Kroeger co-produced the album with longtime collaborator Chris Baseford. It will also mark Nickelback’s first studio album released through Virgin Music Group.

Nickelback Enter Their Next Era

The timing finds Nickelback in an interesting place in their career.

More than three decades after forming in Alberta, the band remains one of Canada’s most internationally successful rock exports. Their previous album, Get Rollin’, launched another major period of touring, while the documentary Hate to Love: Nickelback revisited both the band’s extraordinary commercial success and the criticism that has followed them throughout much of their career.

Yet Everything Under the Sun isn’t being positioned as a retrospective.

Instead, Nickelback are moving forward with new material that draws from several parts of their musical identity.
